Murzha Graf


Graf Murzha (violin) graduated from the Moscow State Conservatory and finished post-graduate course there (prof. I. Bochkova). He received further education at the Royal Academy of Music in London (Great Britain, 1997-1999). Graf Murzha is the laureate of international competitions: Niccolo Paganini in Genoa (Italy, 1990), Vianna da Motta in Lisbon (Portugal, 1991), X International P. Tchaikovsky Competition in Moscow (Russia, 1994), Jacques Thibaud in Paris (France, 1996), Pablo Sarasate in Pamplona (Spain, 1997), Rudolf Lipitser in Gorizia (Italy, 2000) and international competition UNISA (South Africa, 2002).

He performs in the greatest concert-halls of the world, such as the hall “Pleyel”, the Theater on the Champs Elysees, Theatre de la Ville in Paris, the hall “Arsenal” in Metz (France), the “Barbican” in London, gives concerts annually at the Concertgebouw in Amsterdam, and also at the halls of the Moscow State Conservatory, St. Petersburg Academic Philharmonic and others.

In March, 2004 according to the Decree of the President of Russian Federation, he was awarded the title of Honoured Artist of Russia.

Graf Murzha is a remarkable young violinist, one of the best violinists in the world. For the first time I met him in November, 1996, at Violinists‘ Contest in Paris. Listened its c pleasure. He was born with the violin in hands, and all came naturally to him o beautiful sound, enormous range of expression which is manifested through the brilliant technique. Graf Murzha shows understanding of musical styles of different epochs and knows their secret.
