Mikhail Utkin (cello) is the Honoured Artist of Russia (1986), People's Artist of Russia (1994).
He is the laureate of the Moscow Prize, winner of the International Radio Competition "Concertino Prague"; laureate of the II Prize of the International Competition in Liege (1972) as a participant of a string quartet.
He graduated from the Moscow Conservatory (class of prof. M. Rostropovich) and finished post-graduate course of the same institution (class of prof. S. Kalianov).
Mikhail Utkin is the author of numerous arrangements for trio, cello and piano, various ensembles and string orchestra, published in Moscow and St. Petersburg that won success at concerts. He has recorded 8 CDs, accompanied by piano, organ and chamber orchestras.
Jury is a member of several international and Russian competitions, board member of the Moscow Union of Musicians, a member of the Russian Authors' Society and the German Society of Shostakovich.
Utkin has been performing with the “Moscow Trio” since 1974.
