Novikov Yuri


During all his life Yuri Novikov has been working in the sphere of music he is a prominent teacher, pianist and leader. Music is his destiny and his inspiration. It is the source that fills him with creativity and desire to give young talented people the opportunity to learn and achieve their ambitions in life.

Yuri Novikov received a professional higher education. He began studying music from his early childhood in his hometown, Dneprodzerzhinsk, where he finished a music school. In 1971 he entered the Piano Department of the Dneprodzerzhinsk Music College and later continued his musical education at S. Prokofiev Conservatory in Donetsk. Since 1976 Yuri Novikov worked at the Dneprodzerzhinsk Music College as a teacher and concertmaster. In 2004 he became its headmaster. Since March 2006, Yuri Novikov took up the position as a Rector of M. Glinka Conservatoire of Dnipropetrovsk.

Yuri Novikov is excellent piano master. He has prepared more than 30 concert programmes. The pianist's repertoire includes works by W.A. Mozart, L. Beethoven, J. Brahms, S. Rachmaninoff, D. Shostakovich, R. Schumann, F. Poulenc and other composers of world and Ukrainian classics. Concerts were held in many cities of Ukraine and abroad, in particular, in Russia.

All his knowledge and the best teaching qualities he embodies in his students. Over the years, Yuri Novikov has trained more than 80 professionals, most of who graduated from Ukrainian and Russian conservatories, and the best of them became winners of international and national piano competitions.

Yuri Novikov plays a significant role in the development of music education in Ukraine. In particular, the organization of a multi-stage system of education at the Conservatoire, which consists of music school, music college and music faculty. Organizing work in a team, Yuri Novikov primarily takes into account the creative potential of every individual, independence, and readiness to implement certain tasks. He uses all his creativity trying to remain a bright personality and an example for the new generation. In 2009, Yuri Novikov founded the International Festival of Music Art "Music without Limits", which annually gives the public new impressions from communication with the outstanding performers of the world in the language of music.
